| Material | Project Type | Standout Features | Design Goal Achieved |
|---|---|---|---|
| Travertine (Starry Green) | Boutique Resort Lobby | Iridescent green base with starry flecks; curved installation | Evoked a "jungle at dusk" ambiance with twinkling light interaction |
| Foamed Aluminium Alloy Board (Vintage Silver) | Tech Office | Lightweight, brushed vintage silver finish; multi-use (walls, desks) | Balanced industrial edge with warmth for collaborative spaces |
| Rammed Earth Board (Gradient) | Residential Living Room | Terracotta-to-beige gradient; thermal regulation; tactile texture | Brought desert sunset colors indoors, blending nature and home |
| Lunar Peak Silvery | Museum Exhibit | Matte silvery finish with crater-like texture; 3D staggered installation | Created an immersive lunar landscape for space exhibit |
Every custom project starts with a conversation. MCM's design team sits down with clients—architects, interior designers, homeowners—to understand not just the "what" (dimensions, durability needs) but the "why" (the story, the emotion, the sensory experience). For the Serenity Resort, that meant discussing how guests might feel when they first enter; for the Arizona home, it meant talking about the family's favorite desert memories.
Once the vision is clear, MCM creates custom samples. For the travertine (starry green) , that meant experimenting with different fleck sizes and green hues until the "jungle sky" effect felt just right. For the rammed earth board (gradient) , the team mixed clay and sand in dozens of ratios to perfect the sunset gradient. Clients aren't just shown photos—they hold the samples, run their hands over the textures, and see how they look in different lights.
MCM knows materials need to look good and last. The foamed aluminium alloy board (vintage silver) underwent rigorous testing for scratch resistance (important for a busy office) and corrosion resistance (key for San Francisco's foggy climate). The lunar peak silvery panels were tested for lightfastness to ensure they wouldn't fade under the museum's bright exhibit lights.
Even the most beautiful material falls flat without proper installation. MCM provides on-site support, working with contractors to ensure panels are cut, aligned, and secured perfectly. For the Celestial Museum's staggered lunar wall, MCM's team created detailed 3D guides to ensure the 3D effect was consistent across the entire exhibit space.
