I run my hand over a sawn fair-faced concrete panel. Unlike the smooth travertine, this surface is intentionally rough—pockmarked with tiny air bubbles, the texture of a dried riverbed. "That's the 'fair-faced' look," Ahmad says. "No polishing, no sealant. Just the natural texture of the concrete, stabilized by MCM's composite backing. Traditional fair-faced concrete is porous; it stains easily. MCM's version? It's sealed during production, so coffee spills, oil, even graffiti wipes right off. Perfect for high-traffic areas like office corridors."

"Our cutters use CNC saws for the big slabs, so every edge is perfectly straight. The adhesive fills any tiny gaps, making the seam disappear."

As the sun dips lower, casting long shadows across the site, I think about how these materials—flexible stone, big slabs, 3D-printed waves—are more than just building blocks.
