Project: The Canopy Boutique Hotel, Barcelona
When Elena Marquez was tasked with designing The Canopy, a 30-room boutique hotel in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, she knew the exterior needed to bridge two worlds: the neighborhood's medieval stone streets and the hotel's modern, minimalist interior. "We wanted something that felt rooted in history but didn't scream 'old,'" she explains. "The area is lined with centuries-old sandstone buildings, so we needed a material that could echo that texture without the weight or maintenance headaches of real stone."
Enter Sandstone Cloude and bamboo mat board.
Marquez's team chose Sandstone Cloude for the hotel's facade. "At first, I was skeptical—how could a composite material capture the look of weathered sandstone?" she admits. "But when the samples arrived, I ran my hand over them, and it was like touching the real thing. The surface has these tiny, irregular pits and subtle color variations, just like the sandstone in the nearby Placa Reial. But unlike real stone, it's lightweight—we could install it without reinforcing the building's structure, which saved us months of work."
"The crew loved it too. Traditional sandstone slabs are heavy and brittle; one wrong move, and you've got a crack. Sandstone Cloude is flexible enough to handle the curves of our facade's arched windows, and it cut cleanly with standard tools. Six months after opening, guests still comment on how 'authentic' the exterior feels. Little do they know, it's keeping the building cool in summer and warm in winter, thanks to COLORIA's thermal insulation. That's the magic—functionality wrapped in beauty."
Inside, the lobby features bamboo mat board on the accent wall behind the reception desk. "We wanted a contrast to the exterior's roughness—something warm and organic," Marquez says. "Bamboo mat board has this woven texture that feels almost artisanal. It's not just a wall; it's a focal point. Guests run their fingers over it, and the staff jokes that it's become a 'conversation starter.' And maintenance? A quick wipe with a damp cloth, and it still looks brand-new. No warping, no fading—even with the lobby's big windows letting in all that Spanish sun."
Project: Nexus Tech Campus, Bangalore
Rajiv Mehta has been in the contracting game for 25 years, and he's seen his share of "miracle materials" come and go. So when the Nexus Tech Campus—a sprawling 10-acre tech hub in Bangalore—specified lunar peak silvery for their main auditorium walls, he was cautious. "Tech clients love sleek, futuristic designs, but they also demand durability. Auditoriums take a beating—people leaning against walls, sound equipment being moved around, constant foot traffic," he says. "I was worried a metallic-looking material would scratch or dent easily. COLORIA's rep assured me it was tough, but I needed proof."
Lunar peak silvery, it turned out, was up to the task.
"The first thing I noticed was the weight—surprisingly light, which made installation a breeze. Our crew could handle the panels without heavy lifting gear, which cut down on labor time. But the real test was the finish. Lunar peak silvery has this soft, almost pearlescent sheen—not the harsh, mirror-like finish you get with cheap metals. It reflects light gently, which is perfect for an auditorium where you don't want glare on screens. And when we did a scratch test with a key (don't tell the client!), it didn't leave a mark. That sold me."
"Six months post-opening, I did a follow-up visit. The walls still look like they were installed yesterday. No dents, no discoloration, and the staff says cleaning is a cinch—just a microfiber cloth. The client was thrilled. They're already using lunar peak silvery in their new cafeteria extension. For me, that's the highest compliment: when a client trusts a material enough to reuse it. COLORIA didn't just sell us a product; they gave us peace of mind."
Mehta also praised the material's adaptability. "We had to work around a lot of electrical conduits and speaker mounts in the auditorium walls. The panels are easy to cut and shape, so we didn't have to order custom sizes. That saved us from delays. In construction, time is money, and COLORIA helped us stay on both budget and schedule."

Project: Verve University Library, Toronto
Libraries are no longer just quiet rooms with books—they're community hubs, study spaces, and event venues. For Verve University's new library, Sophia Chen wanted a material that could handle the chaos of 2,000+ students daily while feeling intentional and calming. "We needed something that didn't feel sterile," she says. "Students spend hours here; the environment should inspire focus, not stress. But with all the foot traffic, coffee spills, and book carts rolling around, it also had to be indestructible."
Fair-faced concrete was her solution.
"I've used fair-faced concrete before, but COLORIA's version is different," Chen explains. "It has this, almost velvety texture—not the rough, porous finish I've seen elsewhere. The color is a soft, warm gray that doesn't feel cold. We used it for the main circulation desk and the benches along the reading nooks. It's become the library's 'neutral hero'—it pairs with everything, from the wooden bookshelves to the bright accent chairs, but it never fades into the background."
"The best part? Maintenance. In the first month, a student spilled a latte on a bench. We wiped it up with soap and water, and there was zero staining. Another time, a book cart scraped against the circulation desk—no scratch. The university's facilities team is obsessed. They say it's the easiest material to care for in the entire building. And the students? They love sitting on the concrete benches. One even told me it 'feels sturdy, like the library will always be here.' That's the emotional impact we were after."
Chen also added a touch of contrast with bamboo mat board on the library's entrance portal. "We wanted to welcome students with something warm before they stepped into the concrete-and-wood interior," she says. "The bamboo mat board's natural weave feels inviting, like a soft 'hello.' It's a small detail, but people notice it. Parents dropping off kids comment on how 'friendly' the entrance feels. COLORIA's materials let us balance durability with heart—that's rare in this industry."
Project: Serenity Spa & Resort, Bali
Bali is a place of natural beauty—lush jungles, rice terraces, crystal waters. When building Serenity Spa & Resort, Marcus Okafor's team wanted the architecture to fade into this landscape, not compete with it. "The client's brief was 'luxury that feels like it grew out of the earth,'" he recalls. "We needed materials that could withstand Bali's humidity and rain but still look organic. Real stone is heavy and prone to mold here; wood warps. We were stuck until we discovered COLORIA's bali stone and lunar peak golden."
Bali stone became the star of the outdoor pavilions.
"Bali stone has this rough, sun-baked texture that looks exactly like the local volcanic rock, but it's a composite—so no water damage, no mold," Okafor says. "We used it for the pavilion walls and the steps leading down to the pool. When it rains, the color deepens slightly, making the whole space feel alive. Guests say it's like stepping into a sacred garden. And installation? We didn't need special tools. Our local crew, who'd never worked with MCM before, picked it up in a day. That's a big win in a remote location like this."
Lunar peak golden, meanwhile, added subtle luxury to the spa's treatment rooms.
"The treatment rooms needed to feel calm but elevated," Okafor explains. "Lunar peak golden has this soft, honey-like shimmer that catches the morning light filtering through the thatched roofs. It's not flashy—just a warm glow that makes clients feel pampered. And since the spa uses essential oils and steam, we were worried about discoloration. But six months in, the panels still look fresh. The spa manager jokes that they're 'self-cleaning'—the steam seems to keep dust off!"
"What really sold us on COLORIA was their technical support. When we had questions about installing bali stone in heavy rain, their team hopped on a video call with our crew, walked us through it step by step. You don't get that with big material suppliers. It felt like they cared as much about the project's success as we did. That partnership made all the difference."
Project: RONA Yellow Co-Working Space, Berlin
Co-working spaces thrive on energy—they need to inspire creativity while offering quiet corners for focus. For RONA Yellow, a 10,000 sq ft space in Berlin's trendy Neukölln district, Aisha Patel wanted to create zones that felt distinct but cohesive. "We had a bold color palette—mustard yellows, deep blues, terracotta—but we needed neutral materials to ground it all," she says. "Something that could act as a canvas for the colors without feeling boring. That's when we landed on COLORIA's fair-faced concrete and linear travertine (claybank)."
Fair-faced concrete formed the backbone of the space.
"We used fair-faced concrete for the main walls and the communal tables," Patel explains. "It has this industrial edge that pairs perfectly with the space's modern furniture, but it's warm enough to not feel cold. The texture—those subtle, random patterns—adds visual interest without overwhelming the eye. Members tell us they love how 'unpretentious' the space feels. It's not trying too hard, and the concrete is a big part of that."
Linear travertine (claybank) added warmth to the private phone booths.
"Phone booths can feel like tiny, sterile boxes," Patel says. "We wanted them to feel like cozy nooks. Linear travertine (claybank) has these soft, earthy tones and horizontal veining that mimics sedimentary rock. It's warm to the touch, which matters when you're standing in a booth for 15 minutes. Members actually fight over these booths now—they say the material makes calls feel less stressful. Who knew a phone booth could spark joy?"
"The best part? COLORIA's materials are consistent. We ordered 500 sq ft of linear travertine, and every panel matched perfectly. No color variations, no defects. In design, that's a dream—you can plan with confidence. And when the client saw the final space, they said, 'This feels like RONA Yellow came to life.' That's the goal, right? To make a brand's personality tangible through materials. COLORIA helped us do that."
