When the architects of the Horizon Tower set out to design a headquarters for a leading fintech company, they wanted a facade that screamed "innovation" without feeling cold. Enter polished beige granite. The 18-story building features floor-to-ceiling glass panels framed by large slabs of polished beige granite, their warm tones softening the steel and glass structure. "We chose polished granite because it reflects light in a way that makes the building feel dynamic, almost alive," says lead architect Maria Gonzalez. "At night, when the interior lights glow, the stone becomes a canvas, turning the tower into a beacon. It's modern, but not intimidating—exactly what the client wanted." Today, the Horizon Tower is a landmark, proof that polished beige granite can be both bold and approachable.
Tucked between pine forests and the rocky coast of Maine, the Wildflower Retreat is a boutique hotel designed to be a sanctuary from the chaos of city life. When designer James Harper was tasked with creating the facade, he knew polished stone would feel out of place. "We wanted something that felt like it had grown out of the landscape," he says. "Rough beige granite was the obvious choice." The retreat's exterior features large, irregular slabs of rough beige granite, interspersed with wooden accents and large windows that frame the ocean views. "The stone's texture mirrors the nearby cliffs, and its warm color complements the pine trees. Guests often comment on how 'grounded' the building feels—like it's been there forever." Today, the Wildflower Retreat is a beloved escape, and its rough granite facade is a big reason why. "It doesn't fight the environment," Harper adds. "It it."
